Advanced Contemporary with WolfBird Dance
Mondays 7:30pm
Fridays 10:00am

Selina DiPronio and Raven Jones (Artistic Directors of WolfBird Dance) both graduated from the University of South Florida with Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Modern Dance Performance. Their collaboration began in 2014 in Tampa, Florida, where they presented their first evening-length work Your Backwash is Better than Nothing. Since then, they have produced four evening-length works — with a fifth work in process — on both the East and West coasts, as well as several independent short pieces. Their signature dance theatre style is known to be fiercely physical, viscerally emotional, and has been reviewed as “unself-conscious,” “human,” and “intelligent.” For more information about upcoming performances and to register for community classes, visit WolfBird Dance’s website at
Class Description:
Advanced Contemporary will begin with a follow-along standing warm up that leads into a series of rolling floor combinations to warm up spine and hip flexors before learning WolfBird repertory. WolfBird’s technique class focuses on intention as well as stamina and athleticism. Our movement focus will be on traveling low and wide, connection to the floor, intentional circularity, and release vs. engagement.
***Knee pads are strongly suggested for class, but not required.
